How My Blog Suffered a Drop from 53,490 To 111,722 In Alexa Ranking

I have to admit that the recent drop in my Alexa ranking was partially my own fault, i have not been doing religious posting daily and this could be a factor which Alexa considered and somehow i removed my Alexa Widget which could be the cause of the big downfall.

Andy Beard had an interesting post about the recent Alexa Rating Changes attributing to many blogs who have seen a slight move downwards in the month of March 2008. I am not sure why i am receiving a drop of over 50,000 in ranks but i am sure i have not been following the rules that i have set to make your Alexa Ranking Soar high in the recent months!

I am really going to add back my Alexa Widget and see whether i will climb back to be below the 100,000 ranking mark. The traffic i received lately is still on an average as compared to the last 3 months. At the most i see the drop to be at 80,000 and not less than that, we will see how it goes.

One of the way that many have been using is to copy this Alexa Booster into their HTML and increase their Alexa Ranking, Have you done it? Copy and Paste the below Alexa Booster code into notepad file and save as something.html. So here is the Alexa Booster Code :

I would take this as a mini experiment and a lesson learnt. Let's see my results end of April if i am still dropping to 150,000 or not! If that is the case, something is really wrong with my traffic read by Alexa!

The results shown above shows that you have a downfall of visitors, and from the graph, you have a great drop of visitors over the dec 07 to the Jan 08 which could have caused the fall but if your 50,000 resulted on in Mar then it is questionable.

It seems that your alexa have been jumping on a high in different countries but the overall ranking did not make the cut, andy beard reports the same and it should be monitored for a while.

I think your Alexa stats went down because some browsers do not have an alexa toolbar installed on them. That's what I think.

It moves around, the alexa system seems to be suffering from a sharp decrease in numbers over the weeks from many sites, i guess it is a depleting problem.

Alexa is a search engine just like and . The ranking calculated in Alexa is called Traffic ranking. Alexa is a search engine that ranks Web sites according to site traffic it collects through the Alexa toolbar. Alexa computes traffic rankings by analyzing the Web usage of millions of Alexa. The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis. The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time. Reach is expressed as the percentage of all Internet users who visit a given site. Page views measure the number of pages viewed by Alexa. Multiple page views of the same page made by the same user on the same day are counted only once. Alexa traffic rank shows if a site is a winner or not, if a site is worth looking or not, if a site is worth partnering with or not.
