This was a question that was asked by one of my loyal readers. He wants to start a new blog, but is caught in a dilemma of choosing whether to pick a personal or niche blog so i gave him some pointers and those points can be taken into consideration to make a blog he would continue for years.


Personal Blogging
If you write about everything and anything under the sky then you can consider yourself as a freelance writer and what many calls as a personal blog.

If you write well and could sector your topic evenly, you will be sure of traffic surging, and why i say so, personal blogging have one of the highest conversion traffic rates since you are quite sure of unique contents coming from the writers hand.

What i have noticed about Personal Blogs

• They are not shy to talk about their lifestyles and habits
  
• They love to throw in pictures to add a personal touch
  
• They talk in their language and cut of the formality
• They talk about life, food, music & movies they caught recently and places they have been which are interesting.

Niche Blogging
Starting a niche blog requires you to focus on a certain topic for a certain group of readers, making sure you don't divert unwanted attention by drifting away from your niche topic.

While everyone wants to hit a niche that could attract tons of traffic, it would be wise for everyone to choose a certain topic that they are good at. For eg. you are a fanatic for movies and sourcing first hand information on the upcoming blockbuster movie would be at your fingertips, why not blog about it and give some critic and reviews on the movies and tell your audiences what could be worthy of their penny and which are the movie that should be dumped.

Many Niche Bloggers fail because they fix their blog to only monetizing and thus fail because they are hard on wanting to just earn money online forgetting the fact that they first need to build up a blog with content and traffic flowing.

You got to stand out from the rest who are already established in the niche you choosen, so giving unique write ups, programs or incentive offers are a great way to build your traffic in niche blogging.

In some way choosing a right blog to talk about is difficult but you should sit down and brainstorm what you are good at and whether you want a list of topics in your blog or just focusing on 1 topic to rumble about, be a jack of the trade or master of none. The choice is yours, have you chosen your path?
