Wikipedia searching in the near future

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales announced on Friday that he will be building a community developed search service to close off rival search engines such as Google or Yahoo and also in hand, wales also acquired the Grub distributed indexing system from LookSmart and is preparing to distribute Grub's code under an open-source license. Wikia plans to use Grub for its user-driven search engine, which is still under development.

Mr Wales said that his open-source search engine, which will let users influence the ranking of search results, should be released by the end of the year. The engine will also allow user computers to help crawl the hundreds of millions of pages on the web, indexing the content of each.

Wales though not throwing rumors that this will be the next "google killer",
According to Eric Auchard, he stipulated that the change would take place “[i]f we can get good quality search results,” and went on to add, “I could be wrong about this, but it seems like a likely outcome.”

I foresee Mr Wales as the only person who could compete with Google and will Grub be your next search engine?
